Thanks, Margie. This is fun! Did you see the little monkey on the windowsill in the bedroom? LOL! Too cute!
I'm only worried that this could be prophetic and he will really be a "little monkey"!! LOL!

It is pretty. She bought me a diaper bag as well. She has the cutest little Ralph Lauren shoes and outfits. I should have opened the closet and taken another picture. LOL! She certainly doesn't need any more clothes for that baby!

If you can, have someone hold the baby (when he can hold his head up well enough) and put all of the caps on his head, one on top of the other! Take a pic and caption it with, "Caps, caps for sale! 5 cents a cap!" Show it to him when he gets older and read the book together!

What was the name of that book? I vaguely remember that. LOL! That would be cute!!! I'll see if she will do it!

I'm so sorry her mil made it disappointing for you! Especially after you've worked so hard. But I'm sure it was wonderful for your daughter anyway.

Have you looked at www.abebooks.com? Lots of old books there.
The Happy Hollisters was my favorite growing up!

Well, she was pretty stressed out over it. Her MIL has been complaining about everything since January! LOL!
She told me she was making a diaper cake. I said, "Great! Let's use that as the centerpiece for the gift table. You might want to fix up a stand so that the other gifts won't bury it."
SOOOO, she calls my daughter, "I don't want to do that!"
Well, the day of the shower she was in Hobby Lobby looking for something to make a stand for the diaper cake.
At the shower, my SIL's grandmother said to me, "Tell (my daughter) to hurry up and open her gifts."
She was eating dessert, like everyone else, and wasn't ready to open them! It was only 3:15. We had time!
THEN her MIL called her later and told her that her husband's grandmother was very upset that she didn't sit at her table and visit. Good grief! We had about 60 people there. She couldn't have visited for very long with anyone! Her MIL told her that the grandmother had to go home and take some medicine because she was so upset. LOL!
Oh boy! What a trip! LOL!

Re: PO's Best Christmas Present EVER!!!!!
I should post the positive side of the party before I go to bed. I hate being a "sad cat". LOL!
Two of my sisters and four of my nieces drove over to attend. We all went over to my daughter's house, after the shower, to visit for a few more hours. That was fun.
After I read the poem from the book that Renda sent, I told the guests that the announcement that we were going to be grandparents came at Christmas time. We found a baby bottle Christmas ornament in one of our presents and that is how we found out. I told them that the ornament was taped under a chair in the room and that whoever located it would win a prize.
Then we played two games with prizes going to the winner. We had 35 tie on guessing the melted candy bars in the diapers - "Guess the Poo" game. LOL! Seems that game has made its rounds. So, we picked a number between one and 100 and whoever came the closest won that game.
The second game was guessing 10 baby items starting with the letter B. The items had to match our word list.
Then we gave away four door prizes. Fun, fun!!! One lady was freaking out that she lost her number and wouldn't be able to win. I told my daughter, later, "I'm glad that woman wasn't drinking. She may have shot one of us." LOL! Again, from the "outlaws" side of the family. LOL!
Overall, no one knowing anything but us, it was a good time.

Re: PO's Best Christmas Present EVER!!!!!
I'm reading and smiling the WHOLE time.......oh, do I know what you are going through!
Our drama is not the same as yours, but there is MIL drama for sure. She has a problem when things aren't about HER, so it's been a little strange to deal with since this is NOTHING about her.
My dil has been hurt because her mom isn't excited as me. She was even hurt that her mom didn't even bring her camera to the shower - she said, "oh, I didn't even think about it".....
The table clothes are not up to your (or mine) standards, but honestly so many people really don't pay attention.
I'm sure the food and fun overshadowed any of the details that you weren't satisfied with.
So glad you were able to use the book that I sent you for the shower too - - that's cool!
The Grandmother's Prayer Journal you engraved and sent me was admired by my friends - I even had someone ask me where she could get one. I found it and got it for her as a "gift" - paying things forward is always fun! I told her to do the same with someone else in her life.
