First law of human nature is self-preservation, I have found people only defend when they are insecure in their position. Truth needs no defense. It may be that those who feel they are being attacked would like to reevaluate their positions without being judged for having made mistakes in the past. Just because somebody taught you that way doesn't mean its the truth. We all need to reevaluate our positions daily. It's easy to get off track.

It does here.

Unfortunately some men cannot handle this God-given role and abuse the position to manipulate and control women to keep them in a subordinate position. You may not have experienced this, and I am glad for you, but I have seen it and know many that suffer from the abuse of power.
I understand what you're saying here and was expecting this point to be made eventually if it wasn't already earlier on. Perhaps it was and I missed it.

Still though ..... the mandate was issued in Genesis and the mandate and the principle of it is seen through both Old and New Testaments from Genesis to Revelation.

And that's the truth. Maybe hard to swallow sometimes because abuse happens. We've ALL seen it and know it's true.

But doesn't change the Scripture.

*sigh*

I am an Apostolic woman. I am not oppressed. I have a good husband, whom I love. I have a good pastor, who I respect. I have chosen of my own accord what convictions I will live by, and I have chosen of my own accord to respect my husband's position in our home and his role in my life and the life of our children.

This thread does not represent my views.

Thank you.

Wow!! I've been off line for a bit tending to other things, and for anyone doing any Sherlocking, they can tell you I just logged on not long ago and read the last couple of pages.

A few points and maybe a question or two and then it's bedtime for me.

I made the following post earlier this evening and it was followed by CS...

If someone feels put-upon or persecuted, that is their experience. It just doesn't happen to be mine.

And let us define persecution...those who cannot preach the gospel or profess Christ openly for fear of death or imprisonment...this is persecution, IMO.

Teaching against women preachers or for a dress or hair 'standard' is not persecution.

Let's ask Mother Alvear if the above is persecution as she knows it, shall we?!

Ask Nona Freeman or Vesta Mangun if they have been persecuted in the Apostolic Church.
Anyone care to comment on THIS?! Why did Homie use the wrong phraseology here?! The words he was looking for were possible abuse of authority...overstepping bounds...NOT persecution.

No, it isn't funny or accurate.

What is funny, as in odd, is this...people like Randy, PastorPoster, Coonskinner, Renda, Mother A and others can post about things that seem to really get to the heart of where we live and the threads and posts end up in the elephant's graveyard.

But let some disgruntled soul start a thread about women or 'standards' and we are up to 23 or more pages.

It is mindboggling...

What's up with the personal attacks?

To me it implies weakness ... and not strength ... when you start attacking the individual rather than just dealing with the topic and the questions.

Nor mine. I think we are really in the majority here, not the minority.

I tend to think a miniscule number of American's have any idea what persecution is really like. We really have no idea. It's arrogant to think we do.
