Its supposed to be in the 30s Saturday morning! Thats awesome! It will get the deer moving!

I can't wait!

You can keep that "hot" weather hunting. I did some of that in TN. YUCKO! Thats not for me!

Hunting... where you sit in an insulated deer stand with a rifle and scope that can hit a nickel at 200 yards (even for someone who has never shot a rifle before) and wait for the deer to arrive at the deer feeder in time for the regularly scheduled food to spill on the ground?

I'm with you DT- though I didn't stay long enough for a "degree." Good luck in the woods.

How about turkey hunters with bow or gun?

The bow deer season opens here this weekend. Turkey season opens as well.

My husband and I are frantically making last minute preparations.

Before sun up this Sat. we'll each be sitting in our favorite tree.

Did someone say, Deer hunt??? Perhaps this will increase your already rapid pulse rate. We don't get these from tree stands. Not that there's anything wrong with that. This is a rare Mule Deer - Blacktail cross taken September of 1969 in a far Western place. Hope you have some pictures to post next week!

My daughter, who will be 14 on Friday, practiced with LR's 243 rifle this evening, as she will be going on the youth hunt in just over two weeks.

She shot a shotgun two years ago, but it scared her so she didn't hunt that year nor last.

But a rifle is different. I got her a ground blind that is set up on LR's property and we saw it today.

But back to the shooting practice. We put up a target of a deer at 50 yards and let her have it. She shot 4 times.....2 with a gun rest and 2 just holding the gun herself. This is quite a heavy gun.

She shot the 2 with the rest right in the heart area, and one of the 2 without the rest in the neck. The other one was a little low, nicking the lung but perhaps able to survive had it been a real deer.

Me thinks I'm gonna have fresh deer meat on my table soon!!! Hehehehehe!!

She only hunts for two days, but I think I'll get her an extra tag or two!
