Re: VA Hospital
I just want to know if anyone here goes to the VA?
Well I do. I have to wait months and months to see a doctor. Then when I see my doctor they have to give me permission to see another doctor. I need an MRI. I am still fighting for that to happen.
I am sickened by all the "support the troops" stickers on everybody's cars. When is the last time they have been in a VA hospital. They haven't and they never will be. Sorry if I am ranting. BUT nobody gets it. There are hurt people! They are VETERANS! Some of my personal friends have been shot and blown up. Then they come back from a year long deployment to argue with the VA for care. This is WRONG. Nobody is standing up for them.

When I said free health care for the Vets, I meant that they would not have to come up with any money out of pocket. I know nothing is free.
Aquila, why would you take my comment so far out of context?
I think anyone who read my comment would understand what I was saying.

It is inexcusable that these Vets are dying because the system can't handle the workload. If the hospital needs more needs more doctors then hire more doctors. But don't lie and cover up what is going on.
All Vets deserve first class healthcare that is accessible.

As a vet that goes to the VA quite a bit, I agree with you. These people should be held accountable for their actions.

Chris, healthcare for vets is paid for by the taxpayers for a reason. Most taxpayers make healthcare for the Vets free, so it is indeed free to the Vet and it should be.

Re: VA Hospital
Freedom isn't free, taxpayers who don't serve in the military should cover the costs.

Re: VA Hospital
So anyway, now people (politicians and media) are saying let's give Vets a voucher to get private care.
Well I hope vouchers work better than TRICARE. When I was deployed my wife tried using TRICARE a couple of times.
She was assured that she could see her doctor. Her doctor was on the approved list of physicians in our local area.
After she went to the doctor a few weeks later she received a letter saying her visits were not approved and that she would have to pay for the visits our of her own pocket.
So she called up the phone number for TRICARE. What happened? She waited on hold for an hour. Talked to someone who agreed that TRICARE would not pay the bill. Oh and that I was not in the ARMY. My wife told the person that I was in Afghanistan. The person then asked why I was in Afghanistan since I am not in the ARMY. My wife asked to talk to a supervisor. Blah Blah Blah!!!
This happened every day for weeks. Hours wasted on the phone trying to get TRICARE to pay for what they said they would pay. Finally I called from AFGHANISTAN to work it out. No dice. I was fed up with it and so was my wife.
What did we do? We just paid it ourselves. Yeah this government supports the troops!!!
Sorry if I sound cynical but I had a sick wife, other things to worry about like not dying in a foreign land and TRICARE has the nerve to tell me I am not in the ARMY!!!
Hope that voucher thing works out for everybody.
