The SCOTUS needs to send a shot across the bow and nip this executive order nonsense in the bud. The President cannot use an executive order to alter the 2nd Amendment. And if he tries, the SCOTUS bears the responsibility to put him in check.

My two cents is this was a warning from the WH to Congress to act substantially. He wants assault weapons banned and the gun show loophole closed. If Congress doesn't do both of those things, he will try to issue an executive order.

However, if he does, I believe it will be short-lived and the courts will knock it down. Recent rulings by Fed courts in '08 and '10 have affirmed 2nd Amendment rights and have knocked down laws trying to place limits on it.

Both Bush and Clinton are two term presidents. Obama is starting his second term. He'll most likely land between Bush and Clinton after all is said and done.

Ever noticed that the Patriot Act and Executive Order 13224 violates our Constitutional liberties... as would anything Obama might do with regards to the 2nd Amendment.

Yet Americans will continue voting for one of these two parties...

I voted for W in 2000. I voted against Kerry in 2004. It's terrible that politicians use tragedy to push their agenda. Bush used 9/11 to push the Patriot Act - the most egregious trampling of civil liberties, passed by a Republican no less. The Patriot Act paved the way for Executive Order 13224. Now Obama is using Newtown to push his assault against the 2nd Amendment.

I thought it was very interesting to research how the Republican Party filed law suits in attempt to prevent Libertarians from running against them.

You are right, President Obama will probably use more. He would not have used 138 in his first term, IF the republicans priority was not to keep him from being re-elected.... only backfired on them. ... I hope he uses every political weapon against the "Do Nothing" congress and get something done for the American people and our country. ... President Obama puts country FIRST even when the Democrats don't see eye to eye....

President Obama is NOT using anything to push for "GUN CONTROL" ... It was a crazy man with an assault weapon. .. Even 87% of the NRA members agrees that we need regulations on CLIPS and assault weapons... There won't be a problem to get something done to stop the killing of children and innocent people in our country.

Curtailing constitutional liberties of the American people isn't putting the American people first. He is there to SERVE us... not RULE us.
