Well, they DO do follow the letter of the law to the T, yet completely and utterly miss the spirit of it. And even that wouldn't irk me so much if so many weren't so proud of their holiness while strutting around like peacocks.

I was actually going to join just to respond to one of his last two posts, but I do not think there would be a point since they take on a rambling quality and a Facebook wall doesn't make a good discussion board.

Seriously though, I don't see why this issue is not addressed in UPCI churches as it is one outward standard that can be clearly seen. I speak as a person who has begun to make this change in my life.

I understand that you don't have to be fat to be gluttonous, but it's hard to be fat and not gluttonous. Only when I decided to change my eating habits was I able to understand this. I think many pastors and parishioners of the UPC are looking at the spec and can't see the beam in front of them.

All these rules about what people look like on the outside and how it'll send one to hell, but what about what people are putting in them only to reflect it on the outside.
