I don't know about that. They have been around for over 10 years as it is. Last 4 albums all went platinum.
I enjoy their music very much. My favorite off of the new album is probably "Undisclosed Desires". I also like the fact that when they play Knights of Cydonia in concert, the harmonica piece from "Once a Time in the West" precedes it. Very, very cool.

I think that most of their sales have been in the UK...so I don't know that that is a good barometer. Also, it's probably easier to get a platinum album these days...and it still doesn't guarantee memorable music. I think they're a footnote.

Considering they are a British band, that would make sense.
As far as footnotes, I don't know. 5 albums released in the last 10 years, the 1st one was gold and the rest have been platinum. That is pretty good staying power.
That is what is great about art, though. It is all subjective to the individual's tastes.

I agree with what you said about art. I will say this IF MUSE is a footnote then the subject must be one of the greatest British band of all time with 4 Platinum albums, multiple music award nominations, and one of the strongest cultural followings that any band has garnered in a long time. Yes, the foot note of that statement would be MUSE.

Also I meant to mention the it is actually tougher to have platinum albums these days than previously. With all the illegal piracy and the ability to record on cd's and dvd's make it less likely to have a platinum album now than 5 years ago. Also I don't believe that individual song downloads count toward the platinum status. I checked on Wiki-Answers and found that the only way downloads count toward gold, platinum, mutli-platinum and diamond-platinum is when they full entire album is downloaded and can be verified with a reciept of transaction. This is the same for cd's, dvd's, cd platters and video sales. Keep in mind that to be certified platinum the record must sale at least 1 million copies in the first 14 months. The multi-platinum and diamond-platinum or generally obtained and given to records that are older than 14 months.

The Muse, from what I can tell, has only charted twice in the US. Once at 107, I think, and with Resistance at 3. You are a footnote if you can't capture the American audience, just ask Paul Young.
It's really that simple. They'll be forgotten in 5 years.

I am a fan of various types of music. I listen to music from Ozzy to the Osbourne Bros, famous for singing "Rocky Top", Go Vols! I am eclectic with my likes of music. I have been listening to Muse on the radio for a while. I don't own any of their Cd's as of yet. If you don't know who they are you might notice this song from the Twilight movie, soundtrack.

They are from England I do believe. I really dig their music. They are VERY awesome IMO. Are there any Muse fans on here?
Weigh in with your opinion. There are several other popular song they have out this one might be the most recognized from the Twilight movie.

LOVE uprising. Very inspiring. My son turned me on to them.
