Re: The Defense Rests...
For any student of 20th century oneness pentecostalism, A. W. Buie was one of the giants.
He played a big part in a lot of history.
My condolences to the family.

Having never met him ... I can only get a glimpse of his great stature by looking at the legacy woven masterfully in you and your offspring ... and from our friendship, discussions, the love and honor you demonstrated towards my father and family and the arduous fruit of your labor in the city we both love. The Church has indeed lost a prince in the here and now .... but rejoice in knowing he has gained the crown of righteousness and robe of eternal life.
Pastor, I will always remember how much my dad loved, respected and admired you. Also, your words of comfort to our family when my dad went home. I wish I could express myself as articulately as you did ... but since I cannot ... please know that if there is something we can do ... anything ... ask it. We love you and your wonderful family.
Today, I give honor to a Champion of grace, Apostolic hero, model of tolerance and extraordinary father, grandfather, pastor, teacher, friend and brother.
Solemnly,
DA

Daniel:
What a true and kind friend and brother you are! As I loved and respected your father so much, and offered my heartfelt expressions of love and comfort to you and your family at his loss, so, too, you now bring a comfort and peace to my heart. And, of course, that is exactly what brothers and friends do. If you think about it, we, Pentecostals, are a true "band of brothers" joined together in victory and loss.
I only wish that Pastor Alicea could have met my father when both were in New York City at the same time. But at didn't happen. I believe they would have become fast friends and brothers in Christ. But, what am I thinking? They are getting acquainted right now in heavenly places in Christ Jesus!!!
Your Dad is probably teaching my Dad how to say holy in Spanish. I can hear it now... "Santo...santo...santo!" Just like it was only yesterday...
Now I have two great men of God to remember, respect and long to see again...it is one of the reasons of the hope that lies in us.
Thanks so much for you kindness and comforting words, Dan. And please pray for my mother...

In my humble opinion, and that of many others, Elder Epley is exactly correct.

TImlan:
Thank you so much for your kind words about my father. He had such a far-ranging influence on so many Oneness Pentecostals, but especially upon its ministry and leadership...from the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ to the Pentecostal Church, Incorporated to the United Pentecostal Church, International to the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ and beyond.
Several very anointed and effective missionaries came out from his pastoral leadership and inspiration...
...there has to be a very noisy business meeting going on in heavenly places, and my Dad can be heard...he is rising to his feet and saying, "Point of order!"
God bless him...

Without a doubt you learned to be the master parliamentarian you are from your dad. Perhaps one day you can share his important role in influencing the movement either here or in the book I hope you write.

One of only a few pictures I have seen recently where he was wearing a "long" tie. When we decided that we were going to wear bow ties to the funeral (sons and grandsons), I went over to the house and collected about 35-40 of them. I think I saw perhaps 5 or 6 traditional ones. What a great signature for an amazing man.
The cat, I suppose, it out of the bag. I affectionately refer to RevBuddy...as Dad. The more I strove to separate myself from Dad, the more I realized I needed to be just like him.

Well to you TP and your Dad RB, I do offer condolences in your loss. But rejoice with y'all that he is indeed with his Heavenly Father. What a wonderful legacy he has left in you and your Dad. And Heaven's Jubilee has just begun for your grandfather.

Re: The Defense Rests...
RevBuddy, I am saddened to hear of the loss of such a wonderful man. I think we can all be consoled by the fact that while we shared this mortal coil we were enriched by his teaching and the marvelous depth of his knowledge.
