When we discuss ministers being put under question . . . this is an example of one who should be placed under question.

What Rev. Craft is doing is wrong, plain and simple. If he hasn't sent his license in, it should be taken from him and he should be put under question. He absolutely should not be allowed to drop his license by nonpayment of dues and not have it show that he's actively engaged in turning people against the organization.

Regardless of our disagreement on things, here is why TLC will NOT be placed under question if the officials in Mississippi have half a brain cell between them:

Placing that man under question would drive men en masse to pull out of the UPC via protest.

It would be stupidity of the highest order.

When solid men who are not radicals start pulling out, men like Godair and Craft, it might be time to take a long hard look at things.

I don't get "Elder Craft." I only met him once and never really knew him. Is he trying to "prove" something after leaving MS? That's just the impression that I've been getting from him over the last few years. I hope I'm wrong. He always seemed like a stand up guy.
I don't understand this either.

All I can figure is TLC is pretty elderly now, his time in the sun has past and First UPC in Jackson is now a far cry from what it was in its heyday.

Maybe he sees this as one final chance to make an impact.

If he IS calling preachers to leave, it IS petty.

And while TLC could be simplistic and not a real critical intellectual thinker, "petty" is a word I thought I would never use to describe TLC.

Sounds to me like these guys are using him for some kind of mascot.

Quite sad and pitiful, really.

CS, are you pulling out? If not maybe we don't need to question things just yet..........

All I can say is that the libs have what they want, and they are going to have to live with it.

Just to make sure I'm getting the right story, I'll ask some of my old friends to perhaps fill an old comrade in for old time's sake - those who were under TLC's ministry.

Darrell Johns?

Larry Sims?

Donald Moore?

If you guys don't lurk here, someone who knows you would. My email address is timlan205789@yahoo.com or I'll give my cell phone number via PM.

Is Craft calling you and trying to persuade you to leave the UPC?

If so, what is motivating him to do this?

The Thomas L. Craft I knew would have felt like G. R. Travis.

I'd really, sincerely like to know what's going on here.

And I stand behind what I say: if Craft is doing this, it's petty, it's stupid and I will lose a ton of respect for the man.

What's this mean?

Don't use me as any kind of barometer, Brother.

I don't claim to represent anybody or anything but me and mine.

I am in a very unique situation, a small, scattered, very conservative district.

We have really been removed from the mainstream of the organization for years.

We aren't really considered to be of any consequence by HQ...I have been in enough general committee meetings to know that, and I understand why. Not enough numbers or dollars. That doesn't offend me at all. I know what organizations are and how they function. Money talks.

So whether I leave or not doesn't mean a whole lot.

The resolution affects me about as much as folks in Alaska would be affected if congress passed a law limiting the use of air conditioning.

Could it be his recent "joining up" with the CA folks regarding the online college has tainted his views?

I was with him in a recent meeting and had a lengthy conversation after church with him. He did not mention one word about this issue or controvery to me. Nor did he seem preoccupied or unfocused.

Of course, this was just my experience recently, but I tend to believe his participation is perhaps exaggerated...
