Re: Social drinking?

People can make scriptures say that Jesus drank fermented wine, but you really don't know that and wouldn't you want be more reverent to your Lord and savior then inject that into the scripture. I wouldn't say things like that out of respect and I believe with all my heart that he didn't drink any intoxicating drink. How do people feel about beer and liquor? All that people are mainly discussing is wine. If wine why not beer? If beer is o.k. next would it be o.k. to go down to your local tavern and set down and have one with a buddy?

I guess this means then for the weak you shouldn't be drinking alcohol?

Also I'm not sure Paul was dealing with fermented wine at any of the occasions he was saying this type stuff.

Really? Grape juice can cause a weak brother to stumble?

That's unfortunately how Sean's reasoning goes. It's so full of logical fallacies it's not even funny.

Notice Galatians 5 does not mention gluttony(it didnt make it to the big leagues), it must be a bigger sin to drink intoxicating drinks. You cannot get incoherent eating an in n out burger, just sick...LOL

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication(one step leads to another here) , uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness(one drink leads to another here)], revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God

Little lust starts with a thought....Turns into a monster
Little drinking starts with just one, turns into a drunkard
Paul equates drinking with immorality in this passage, all of these works of the flesh here have a beginning point!

Is it okay to toy with the beginnings of all these other sins?

interesting you say that...most beer is 4-7% alcohol and wine is usually about 14%.

Drink a little wine for your stomach's sake.

Re: Social drinking?

To be explicit that is all it says is meats and wine. We don't want to add to scriptures anything.

But the question is did Paul suggest partaking or abstaining from for your weak brothers sake?

Re: Social drinking?

Oh I forgot about Kumis!

Kumis is a dairy product similar to kefir, but is produced from a liquid starter culture, in contrast to the solid kefir "grains". Because mare's milk contains more sugars than cow's or goat's milk, when fermented, kumis has a higher, though still mild, alcohol content compared to kefir.

People do not say that, it is the scriptures.

The scriptures clearly and without a doubt say that Jesus drank wine, there are plenty of scriptures that say that. Yes I know that.

That it was unfermented wine is actually for you to prove. The ball is actually in your court that when Jesus was with sinners, they were drinking one type of wine while he was drinking a different one.
