Just out of curiosity, why are we more prone to accept the Bible as the inspired word of God instead of just wisdom stories? And shrug off the other works of wisdom, such as the Tao.

What authority does the Bible stand on besides its own?

You know, I've been hearing a lot about the book of Enoch lately.

I truly do not know if this book is inspired by God or not because I cannot prove it scripturally. Yet, I've heard some people make references from this book. I am going to have to obtain a copy of this book and read it.

The books I am referring to are mentioned in OT scripture many times, but are not contained within the Bible. I wonder why? I wonder if the books have not been found or if they are buried deep within the vaults or even the catacombs of the Vatican. If the latter be the case, I wonder why they do not want the rest of the world to read these books?

Well, the Pentateuch and its extractions have proven their inspiration by prophecy fulfilled, as well as indicating several things that were known by God, but no one else, at the time of writing; the earth is an egg, the sun's rotation, the moon's light is reflected...other things.

Part of the answer is also that we are the Christian extraction, and you have been programmed to accept this, in a sense. God has many names, and "love your neighbor" is a universal concept. Who would put Ghandi in hell?

For the same reason they "adjusted" the ones we can read; to further an agenda. And yes, they have copies they aren't showing anyone; I've read books by Catholic priests, others, that allude to them.

But to our way of thinking, for the most part the part they're trying to hide, some little negation of Original Sin or something, is going to be like "so what?" to most people.

Haven't heard that one. It's called a "circle" in Isaiah, and some think that can also be translated as "ball" or "sphere".

A few more examples, please?

Lots of people would.

Well, the problem with using the reference to the earth being a sphere, is that Isaiah also mentions the "four corners of the earth".......

Re: What's your favorite canon?

just because the Scriptures mention or reference a book does not mean they are endorsing it as part of the canon. Paul referenced Greek poets in Acts 17 because the people were familiar with them but he was not endorsing their musings for inclusion in Scripture.

The Jews were given the responsibility to provide and preserve the oracles (utterances) of God. reference Acts 7:38; Romans 3:2; Hebrews 5:12; 1 Peter 4:11. In my opinion that means they were the channel through which God gave us the revelation of Himself. The Scriptures as accepted and agreed upon by the Jews from the time of Ezra to the time of Jesus and the Apostles is the same as their current Bible and our Old Testament. The Old Testament apocryphal books developed during this time and the Jews were aware of them but they were never placed on a par with the Scriptures. Apocryphal books are found with the Dead Sea Scrolls and were part of their libraries back then. But, just as we may read, reference, and quote from commentaries, books, and teachings of writers but not consider them equal to Scripture, it seems the Jews treated the Apocrypha that way.

Yeah, and Satan took Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world. So, it MUST be flat!
