My question is is the intent of those images to represent Jesus?

Rico.. you're still looking past the main point here, even though it's right in front of your face.
Even if, as you claim, YOU wouldn't be offended by such imagery, some saints consider it sacrilegious. Why not respect their feelings and convictions, rather than brush them aside with dismissive comments such as this:

Yes, and my response to that is so what? I already know that those statues and pictures don't actually give an accurate depiction of what Jesus looked like, so it doesn't matter what anyone has one of them saying. It isn't Jesus. The minute you or anyone else starts thinking they actually represent Jesus is the minute you've formed an image of what God looks like in your mind. A false image at best, and possibly an idol at worst.

TRFrance you are actually trying to say you have a conviction over someone using a picture of someone who isn't God to poke fun at Republicans and support the political candidate of his choice? If so, you have become entirely too sensitive. Again, anyone who actually believes that those pictures represent Jesus is allowing themself to be influenced by the Catholic church. Set yourselves free, I say!

Ok, my response is then, So what? I already know those statues are MEANT to represent Jesus.
BTW no that is not that YOU have formed an image. It's simply dealing in reality. We know the intent. We know what they are supposed to represent. Nobody here says they are Jesus.
Someone can say blank Jesus....and some might respond "Well you don't know the real Jesus so that does not mean much"...that is beside the point. It was still irreverent and blasphemy
Those images are used to represent Jesus. If you don't believe that look at 1Cor's cartoon. He uses the name of Jesus in it.
Some are going to be offended.
What if someone says "Jeeeezus" and arguably that is NOT really the name Jesus, but then what if they mock our God by using that name...you know their intent but because they did not spell it "Jesus" or say "Jesus" is it somehow different? Does not become less irreverent?
The issue is not whether or not they are really Jesus, but the issue is that is what "they" intend and the results are often scandelous and irreverent with the intent of mocking our savior. Some find that bothersome and I won't criticize them for it

When you read those kinds of cartoons that the intent is to mock our savior do you find them funny, amusing, entertaining or otherwise "good art"?
