For the record, I'd probably not smile either if I were Governor Perry. It is a serious problem and it takes the Legislative and Executive Branch to fix the problem.

Yes, it's been a problem for DECADES. It became a problem when Reagan allowed amnesty in exchange for what he believed would be tougher enforcement. The Democrats went back on their word, watered down the enforcement aspect, and Reagan later regretted the bill.

Congress HAS done this. Republicans HAVE tried to pass bills. Unfortunately, Democrats refuse to vote on any bill which includes border enforcement. obama has also signaled he would veto any bill which isn't exactly as he wants.

You want to whine about compromise, you need to address the lack of compromise with obama and the Democrats. Yes, the Republicans should go halfway....but even if they go halfway, the Democrats and obama refuse to budge at all.

There's enough Republicans to pass immigration in the House...even with a path to citizenship -- provided the bill includes enforcement measures. Democrats refuse to allow that.

Who's not willing to compromise?

Too bad obama's laughing like it's all a big joke. He doesn't care. He's too busy play pool and drinking beer in Colorado to visit the border.

BTW...what would've happened if GWB was seen playing golf during Katrina?

So you are saying that since Obama has been President, the House of Representatives has presented a bill aimed at fixing the Immigration system?

I know Senator Rubio led a bi-partisan effort in the Senate, but his efforts were reviled rather harshly.

There have been many talks on the Hill about immigration and the Republicans have discussed their plan for comprehensive immigration reform. But obama has made it clear it's his way or nothing at all. That's not compromise. That's not cooperation. My way or the highway didn't work with W and it certainly hasn't worked with obama.

Real immigration reform is enforcement plus dealing with people who have lived here longer than a decade. It's not amnesty without any enforcement. The WH is quick to claim that the Border Patrol is more staffed that ever before...but what good are they when DHS has taken over its duties, put a gag order on the BP and ordered them to stand down.

I'll ask again: why is the DHS taking the lead on this? Why is there a gag order on the BP, doctors and the press?

And obama claimed his would be the most transparent admin ever. HA!
