Religion gone mad!

I find it interesting that the World of Religion is in a never ending cycle of debate. Today, we may feel we have the Truth. Tomorrow, we might discover we’ve been totally wrong.

Humanity has always struggled with this, and answers regarding Faith will mainly remain unanswered until we die.

Maybe this is why Paul said, “And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”

If anyone knew the complexity of Faith, Paul did. He went from being the Hunter, to being Hunted. He went from Smiting, to being Smitten. He knew and understood the hardship of being “Hard Wired” with ideals that later were revealed to be a false way. Paul went on to say numerous things that brought Faith into a very simple realm, as he knew, people could easily make the Cross of Christ of none effect.

At the Cross, when Jesus said, “It is finished”, it seems that is not enough for the World of Religion. We just can’t take it in that Calvary was the conclusion for our wayward ways. Instead, we go right back into the “Law”, where Faith becomes a complex dimension of no real answer and a million maybes. We miss this fact that no matter what we do, we corrupt what is done. From Religion to Politics, no stone is left unturned which reveals, man is a failure.

I just wonder, if all the World of Religion were to stand before the Tree where Jesus was slain, would this somehow bring us together? As the Veil was rent in twain, the blood of animals and the Temple rituals had met their fate, as Jesus Christ became all that we would ever need. We fight, bicker, and condemn those who don’t believe like us, while the Cross fades into the background of us trying to save ourselves by unending debates and conditions.

Religion has gone mad by people's intent to prove a point that we don't know the answer to.

The problem is with the bible. It's so inconclusive, contradictory and vague that it's produced over 30,000 christian sects, according to some.

What a suprise, two posters who don't accept the authority of the Bible. (Yet quote scripture--are the scripture YOU quote inspired?)

Well, without Biblical authority, I guess we become the authority ourselves.

SM, no problem with agreement on that point!

Do you think Paul felt that from time to time? He was a man well versed in Scripture, and to realize how wrong he was via his Religious fervor and knowledge, it's quite possible he questioned Faith's current motives, as past ones caused him much grief.

Exactly.

I used to think I knew all the answers because I had a wonderful conversion experience and people who explained to me what it meant. I assumed that since they seemed to be able to explain my conversion that what they were telling me must be right. I know by now, they just did their best with the explanation. The other folks, well....they just denied it was meaningful. Of course, I was going to believe the ones who validated my experience.

What is so bizarre, we might both have the exact same conversion experience, with the exact same question, but receive 100 different answers to that question.

Religion is simply the above scenario, a billion fold.

Just curious; you seem pretty sure about yourself. Could you please define, "Biblical Authority". In your definition, I'm assuming there will be no room for error or contradiction.

If there is room for error or contradiction, the "Authority" you talk about may stand to reason, as authority must take control, not lose it.

As you reveal your convictions and ideals the sad drama of Law will begin to follow. This becomes the deadlock to every Religion, and crawling on glass eventually binds the Group.

The fact is, the Bible is not clear on many issues, leading to an endless array of maybes. This is why I see the Cross as our only hope, as Calvary eliminates my ability to reason. He did it all!
