Re: PBT and R. Harvey: Follow the Money Trail?

I used to dislike Thomas Dexter with a passion! I considered him a sell-out. Then one day (sometime last year) I was disecting or discussing Jakes with my best friend. (he is a Jakes fan, whatev). AND it hit me... I got very quiet while I entertained the thought that... maybe, just maybe Jakes version of "Apostolic" roots where similar to the PCI. Today, while not a fan- I don't dislike him.

Re: PBT and R. Harvey: Follow the Money Trail?

Correction by the 3rd printing of PBT .. Reider states that she had sold close to 20,000 books

... by resisting the cutting hair attack .. her obedience in this matter was the seed to this book and the others .... God was providing a means of provision for her and her kids.... and the church her former husband pastored would have been destroyed had she cut it.

Re: PBT and R. Harvey: Follow the Money Trail?

While I believe RR / RH is terribly misguided and teaching heresay I do not believe she is doing so for money.

I believe that she believes what she teaches.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I think she actually does believe it even though it did not work for her.

I guess you are right with all those crazy doctrines spewing all over the place what's one more erroneous teaching going to hurt?

Just goes to show that those who think they have all truth might be lacking in some areas.
