Sis. Amazing Grace called and left me a message yesterday. Her surgery is today and her mother was supposed to be there with her. Her mother had an accident in her wheelchair and broke her leg and is unable to be there with AG. AG is expressing signs and symptoms of situational depression: she is crying, isolating herself, and sleeping quite a bit. She is on heavy pain medication and needs our prayers, especially today.
Please pray for her.
Blessings, Rhoni

Oh that's too bad that no one is there with her. Glad you posted this and I think we need to put this in prayer closet too.

We let her live as long as we possibly could, and I didn't have the heart to let her suffer anymore.
She came to us two summers ago, another castaway dropped by an uncaring person. She was the most beautiful black lab I'd ever seen. When she was dropped here-- we took her to the vet to be checked out. At that time, she was diagnosed with such a severe case of heartworms that the vet said the treatment (which cost about $600) would have taken her life because he didn't think her heart was strong enough to survive it.
He advised us to take her back home and keep her in a confined kennel to restrict her from being able to run-- which would dislodge the heartworms and send them straight to her lungs.
She wasn't suffering at that time-- and he put her on heartworm prevention to prolong her life. He said it wouldn't stop what was already started-- but would possibly slow down the inevitable. He also gave us a list of signs to look for-- that would mean she was beginning to suffer.
She became like a member of the family. She was very protective of the kids-- and was one of the most gentle animals we've ever been blessed to have. We took really good care of her, and loved her-- and she gave so much to our family. We will never again have another pet that would ever replace her.
Those signs from the list given to us by the vet started early last week. I cried, and cried and cried some more-- knowing that it was going to break the hearts of our children to lose this dog.
She was taken back to the vet this afternoon. The vet did some tests and said she was at the point where they were breaking loose and would move into her lungs-- and from there, the death would be slow over a period of a month or so-if that long- and painful.
My husband called me with the information from the vets office, and let me have the final say. I chose to not let her suffer-- and even though I know I've made the right decision, I feel absolutely horrible.
I've cried all afternoon and I'll probably cry myself to sleep again tonight.
*Rest in peace, Lady*

Sister I know how you feel. That is one of the hardest decisions to make.
I pray you will find peace and your children as well.
