Judge Rules College Can Reject Christian Credits

A Federal Judge has ruled that a California University can deny course credit to students who graduated from Christian High School that were taught with textbooks that reject evolution and declare the Bible infallible.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I wonder how long it will take this one to be overturned? They are trying reeaally hard right now to push the humanistic agenda, but so far, outside of the gay marriage ruling, most everything is being shot down. The appeal on the homeschooling law was successful, I don't see how this one will stand up to appeal.

Don't legitimate homeschool programs have to be accredited by some state governing authority? If the program is accredited, then there should not be an issue, right?

If the education is not "balanced", then I don't think a college should be forced to accept the credits. If you don't have some kind of "structure" that ensures quality and balance in an educational system, then you're setting the students up for failure.

So this really shouldn't even be an issue as the governing authorities should have made sure that the schools under their authority were properly preparing their students in the first place.

I'm not sure if you missed this portion of the original post. I am all for quality education and personally am not a big fan of the home-school movement, however, I think refusing credits because the curriculum includes acknowledging the existence of God is FAR over-reaching their boundaries.

I got this quote from the article, UC's justification for their decision in this, specific case.

UC denies credit to courses that rely largely or entirely on material stressing supernatural over historic or scientific explanations, though it has approved such texts as supplemental reading, the judge said.
