Re: Uncut Hair

No projection at all it is all in the interpretation. If you interpret shorn as only cut close then I see your point, but I see shorn as cut. To me shorn means to take shears and cut off hair, but your argument that it is only if it is reduced to a specific length. The next argument that can be made from your belief is how long is long. Is shoulder length o.k.? halfway down the back?

long hair
Quote:
g2863. κομάω komaō; from 2864; to wear tresses of hair:— have long hair.
AV (2)- have long hair 2;
to let the hair grow, have long hair
I think the safest interpretation of this scripture is to not cut it.

I think your missing the point of it saying it's her glory. I wouldnt worry about one hair falling to the ground, no. What would happen if it did?

Onice again, shorn doesn't mean just cut. Other text shows that it doesn't. It says Paul "having shorn his head" if shorn means cut, would it not mean he cut his head? A shorn head is like you would in shearing sheep.

Re: Uncut Hair

Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.
Song of Solomon 4:2 KJV
http://bible.com/1/sng.4.2.KJV

Notice it says sheep that are shorn. Obviously referring to the type of cut, shearing close to be specific.

If it is important you would not, but if it is glory to you it would. If something is a glory you want to keep it.

We have interpretation differences, but that is why I don't overemphasize this issue. They cut sheeps hair with shears and that is why we say shorn and not because length of the cut. shorn means shears and shaven means razor. the word shorn is used because of the method of hair rermoval and not the length of the cut.

By your interpretation anything but a buzz cut would be considered long. Because sheep where shorn down to the flesh and it even sometimes brought a little blood.

Re: Uncut Hair

I , personally look at it this way. I think women SHOULD have uncut hair. If I am asked or the topic is discussed that will be my interpretation and understanding of the scripture. That doesn't mean I am supposed to go out and tell every woman who cuts her hair that she is sinning or doing something wrong, nor am I going to confront people about it.

Firstly, It's not my place and everyone walks their own path. Secondly, not everyone believes exactly the same way I believe (even inside "the church") I don't think it's a salvific issue. I think it is a walk with God issue. Now, I wouldn't marry a woman who did not agree, and if i had a daughter or some other young lady who was under my authority I would teach her it is right for her hair to remain uncut, but it is also her choice when she becomes an adult. I would also teach her that she isn't better than someone else because she has uncut hair. Some women/people have a very haughty spirit about them especially on this issue. To be honest I feel a haughty spirit on your uncut hair is worse than cutting your hair. I see many many times in the bible where God does not look kindly on haughtiness and pride.

It is not my place to go against someone's free will. If a woman wants to cut her hair I would be disappointed but I wouldn't think she is a terrible person or even be the least bit unkind to her. Same with people who have done/do a multitude of other things that are wrong. There are people in this world that do a lot of wrong things and either don't think they are doing wrong or don't know they are doing wrong.

Re: Uncut Hair

Another thought. If shorn or shaven is in regard to length instead of method of cutting, and if long hair is the covering she should have when praying, then if she cut it off would she need to wait for her hair to reach a long length again before resuming prayer and prophesying. Of course, the answer is no.

Re: Uncut Hair

Hair is the not the covering he was referring to when praying, it was an actual covering.
