I find that when songs with lyrics are employed, at least for me, they interfere too much with my mind and my ability to be led by the Spirit. I am trying to discern the voice of my Savior, to understand what He would have of me, but first, I've got to try and mentally block out 120 decibels of some vapid chorus being repeated ad nauseum.
Yes I still sing in the spirit, that is in tongues.

I would be sitting in the Church Of Christ where it was hymns only, trying to get involved. Of course hymns were for singing, very few of them directly to the Lord.

Charismatic worship as I discovered in 1975 was a WORSHIP experience. You were ENGAGING with Christ.
You had an emotional experience and called it "God."

Seems harsh, but i do see a reflection in which that experience--which may be genuine enough, at least from a 'fellowship' perspective--has been made to substitute as 'worship,' which is actually following Christ, and can not be done in a church building, imo. As evidence i submit how 'personal' (read 'selfish') that experience is, compared to some service to others.

YHWH only accepts those who worship in spirit and truth.

If blume wasn't such a liberal now ,he wouldn't be so thin skinned :-). Actually since those books are quite expensive now ,most prob use the screen ,I think it's like a subscription with royalties sent to the writers ? Not sure how many actually do pay though !

Our church still sings from the hymnal along with the occasional old chorus. I love it.

What does thin-skinned got to do with describing ultra conservative ways, that I mistook the original poster for doing?

And what do you mean liberal? lol

What an impolite and disrespectful way to speak to an elder. You're weren't there and shouldn't be so quick to judge what Brother Michael experienced. Have you no shame (or at least, self-control)?
