Upci-gc 2012

The General Conference of the United Pentecostal Church International is going on this week.

What issues are astir this year?

On a more serious note, it'd be interesting if DKB addressed racism. I don't know why, but he has been posting bits and pieces portraying a racially/ethnically diverse UPC on FB.

Re: Upci-gc 2012

I completely forgot about GC this year. Since St. Louis is not too terribly far from Middle Tennessee some year soon I may take a couple of days vacation to check it out. This year only one vacation day left because of the mega 3 week vacation last May.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Upci-gc 2012

The 2012 UPCI GC conference started today and I can't believe nobody has posted a link to the webcast. If you have it post it! It is midnight and I have to go to bed so don't have time to look for it.

I hope they discuss Sunday school teachers owning hair salons.

Re: Upci-gc 2012

I doubt that much of importance will be voted on this year or next year. It is possible that until 2018 there will not be many changes made in the official UPCI manual regarding external holiness standards. I could be mistaken though. However, there are still a number of the elders who will be opposed to any such changes, and so they may wait for the 'old guard' to go first.

Re: Upci-gc 2012

I thought they were rewriting the media part of the manual. What if any changes were made?

I Hear they were voting on loosening the stance on military and lethal force...
Anybody else hear that?
