It depends on the remark and the level of accountability but the issue WAS the equality of the accountability not whether or not they should be held accountable and whether or not the left is as hard on it's own as it is on conservatives

Businesswise, I am reminded of the Imus situation. From what I remember, his last faux pas was not his first. I was glad to see Imus lose sponsorship.
Would you have been glad to see Jackson lose his job too?

When Dr. Laura lost her sponsorships, it wasn't without reason. Some stuff are so over the top that no one wants to be connected to it. Can you blame them?
You're confusing the point now. The point was about reciprocity not whether or not the evil conservatives should have lost sponsers.....

(3) Palin earned her image problem during the Barbara Walter interviews and the other occasions when she opened her mouth when the nation's eyes were on her and she looked stupid. That's her fault.
And what did she do on the Barbara Walters interview that made her look stupid? Isn't look stupid sort of subjective? I mean I think you look rather stooopid at times but I have no doubt that you are an intelligent yet misguided man

(4) This thread is (partially) about Palin and her image problem. You have defended her in stating that it is not her fault that she has an image problem.
Where did I say "it's not her fault that she has an image problem"? I believe the topic was her intelligence not a perceived image problem

(5) You misspelled category.
You misspelled business-wise, but I don't think that makes you look stoooopid but Codie might think so...

(6)

I am hypocritical and I don't criticize the left when they are over the top.

Since you know me so well, give me examples of my hypocrisy. Give me an example of defending hate from the left.

(7) Some of us stand to be blamed. Hopefully, this national discussion will cause us to correct ourselves.
I accept your public confession, go and be thou healed

One big factor in SPs "image" problem, and I admit its there, is that she doesn't fit into the East Coast, Ivy League, elitist image that is expected by the New York media culture. She has the Northern midwest accent with a lot of "you betchas", she went to a small college, she was the mayor of a rural town, she's a conservative Christian woman who hunts and is a member of the NRA. This doesn't fit in with the NY media snobs who truly believe they are superior than "fly over country". Who cares if she doesn't read the NY Times? So what if she has a folksy style of communication? What does any of that have to do with her intellect? Absolutely nothing!

As was pointed out BO stated there 57 states during the election of '08. Had McCain said that, had W said that, had Palin said that it would've been a sound byte that would've stuck. It would be dragged out ad nauseum as proof positive that conservatives are lacking in mental prowess. The "they're stupid" argument from the left is old. Ford, Reagan, Bush I, W were all portrayed in that way. Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, Kerry were always characterized as so intellectually superior. And so Obama gets a pass at such an elementary gaffe by virtue of espousing the agenda of the sanctimonious media.

1) What was is his job?

2) My point is that criticism levelled at Palin's intellectualism has merit, much thanks to Palin herself.

3) In most circumstances yes, but that fateful national interview really made her look stupid-- like she was empty headed.

4) The topic is her intellectualism (not intelligence) and how that criticism of her intellectualism is merited.

5) Whatever.

6) That wasn't a confession, it was a challenge of your implied and stated assertions, but I am willing to let it go.
