Re: Theological Definition of "Person"?
From what I can understand of Trinitarian doctrine the term "person" did originally have the sense of "persona" or a role played by one individual. So Trinitarianism and Oneness actually have quite a bit in common. Here's what I see as the major differences...
Oneness teaches that God manifests himself in three primary personas at appointed times. For example, the Father was simply the Father until he chose to manifest himself in the Son when Christ was born. The Father was always the Spirit, but was revealed specifically acting in the role on behalf of the church at Pentecost.
Trinitarianism believes that GOD has eternally revealed himself in these three personas from eternity past and will throughout eternity future.
