Reaping What You Sow

I have been thinking about something and just wondered how others felt about it.

We know the law of harvest is you reap what you sow. I know we think of that primarily as individuals. But what about nations?

If a nation rules their people in a way that they hinder the people from being able to support themselves, are we helping them by giving them money and aid all the time?

For me I am tired of paying higher taxes to give to foreign countries that hate us and have made decisions that caused them to be poor. Yet we have our own poor we turn a blind eye too. To me that just isn't right. Doesn't the Bible say charity begins at home?

IF God is penalizing that nation by sending a famine and we help them, are we doing right?

I know as a Christian we want to reach out and help. But will God punish us IF His hand is in this?

What are your opinions?
