My niece has a four year old son with Spina Bifida. She went to the
debate rally and here's her story:
10/5/2008 - So many of you know I am a huge Sarah Palin fan and Thursday night she was in St. Louis for the VP Debates. We ended up getting tickets to the debate rally and me, Dan, mom, dad and my friend Miriam went. It was awesome, we watched the debates on the big screens and then she came and addressed the crowd.
You weren't supposed to bring signs in, but of course I wasn't about to throw away my "Special Needs mom 4 Palin" sign so I snuck mine in. After the debates Miriam and I decided we were going to try and get as close as we could and ended up getting about 15 feet from the stage. Still hiding my sign I patiently waited for her arrive and boy did she arrive, the Straight Talk Express bus pulled right up to the stage walkway!
Her family was with her and I must say her children are just as cute in person as on TV. So just as she got up to the stage I held up my sign (the only sign in the floor crowd) she immediately saw it and gave me the thumbs up and if that wasn't cool enough Todd and Willow also saw me and waved and gave the thumbs up.
After her talk she decided to sign more autographs and I tried to get right up to her, but made it about 3 feet away and there were too many tall people in front of me. Sarah Palins dad saw me and tried to speak to me, but it was just too loud, about that time the guy in front of me took my sign and handed it to her, she was smiling and made some comments about it that I couldn't hear, then she was looking around trying to find me, but she had to move on. It was very exciting.
