One thing I can say is that people raised in cults most cannot think for themselves...most cannot reason things out...We judge because we have never been there...study mind control. I have tried to reason things with people involved in cults...unless you have personal experience it is hard to understand why the ladies did not do anything.
I know a cult where all kinds of things happen and I tried to reason with some of them...it is impossible UNLESS God intervenes or something drastic happens.
