I don't want to sound disrespectful. But I'm wondering what difference does it make whether the car belongs to the church or not? I'm not ok with lying, but sometimes I wonder why it is that we all have this need to impress each other with what we have (which would be the reason he might have lied to you, I'm thinking?)
At our Bible study last night we were discussing the night that the rich kid came to Jesus and asked what he needed to do to be saved. Jesus told him to sell all he had and give it to the needy and then come follow him, but the man went away sad. I wonder if how many of us Christians are very much like that young man, even if we don't want to admit it. Not only do want to impress others with what we have, but we also want to
be impressed by what others have.
I think we have a tendency to measure the worth of other people by their possessions instead of measuring their worth by God's yardstick.
Ok, sorry. This is just my soapbox for the day.
