This really depends on what district you are in. Growing up in Houston we knew very little about district stuff other than the occasional youth event and camps...
But in Oklahoma, churches are highly involved with the district stuff including monthly youth rallys and fellowship meetings and the almost monthly special events that take place as well. It is not uncommon to do several district events in a month here....In Ok the saints do consider the UPC as being a vital part of their Christian salvation experience...In OK the saints are very aware of the UPC as a monthly function in their church and really do take a lot of pride in being UPC.
Matter of fact...just 10 to 12 years ago it was still acceptable for a guest speaker at campmeeting to declare the UPC "the " body of Christ and that turning in your card was to no longer BE SAVED....(day bible teacher from Canada)...in OK, no one even blinked when this was taught.....and for the most part they wouldn't blink today either in my experience....
Although there may be one or two churches (I only have one in mind but I'll give it two) that do not hold this level of UPC loyalty, I can tell you that the rest of the Ok UPC local church saints are VERY LOYAL to the district, its functions, and their very PERSONAL involvement with it.....
