Hello, people of Apostolic Friends Form!
I'm a disabled US Navy Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. I got out back in 2004. Since then, I had this misfortune of being homeless. I've "been there, done that, and lost the movie rights." I found out how really stretched thin resources are, especially if one is living in a rural area. I had just gotten into a nasty auto wreck, and had no clue what to do with myself.
Then, through some friends of friends, I slowly got back up and going, and part of a small church [membership averages between 10 - 25]. I now know what my calling is: to help those who are going through what I went through.
With cities "illegalizing the homeless," from homeless spikes to arresting 90 year old men who feed the homeless, there's a ton of negative bull to the treatment of homeless, and just as many prejudices against them.
I'm working with SCORE, and a few other such orgs, to help make this happen. I always am open for feedback, especially from others who've worked in non-profits, for guidance on how to proceed.
Blessings to all!
