"Happiness" is dependent often on circumstances. Joy is not. Joy is a result of something more than mere events and happening in our lives. Joy comes from the eternal "never will run dry" waters that we drink from the well of the Holy Ghost.

Joy is listed in Scripture as one of the "fruits" of the Spirit. If we have the Spirit resident then Joy should be co-resident. But if we're not attending to the Spirit or allowing the Spirit of God to work in our lives the way he wants and can ........ if we're not caring for and nourishing our spiritual lives then the "Joy Well" may very well run dry.

Joy also comes as a result of being obedience and submissive to the will of our Father. Walking hand in hand with Him and allowing Him to take the lead and determine where we go and the direction we're headed in.

Since my own "Joy Well" has been recently replenished and renewed I wanted to paste in these quotes that I found on my favorite quote site.

“He who has not looked on Sorrow will never see Joy.”
- Kahlil Gibran

“One joy shatters a hundred griefs”
- Chinese Proverb

“Joy is the holy fire that keeps our purpose warm and our intelligence aglow”
- Helen Keller

“Joy can be real only if people look upon their life as a service, and have a definite object in life outside themselves and their personal happiness”
- Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

“A sense of humor... is needed armor. Joy in one's heart and some laughter on one's lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life.”
- Hugh Sidey

“If the essence of my being has caused a smile to have appeared upon your face or a touch of joy within your heart. Then in living - I have made my mark.”
- Thomas L. Odem

“Great joy, especially after a sudden change of circumstances, is apt to be silent, and dwells rather in the heart than on the tongue”
- Henry Fielding

“Joy's smile is much closer to tears than laughter.”
- Victor Hugo

“I certainly wasn't happy. Happiness has to do with reason, and only reason earns it. What I was given was the thing you can't earn, and can't keep, and often don't even recognize at the time; I mean joy.”
- Ursula K. LeGui

“The deeper that sorrow carves into your being the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?”
- Kahlil Gibran

Psa 5:11
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy,
because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

Praise the Lord, sis!! Great post...it goes hand in hand with the song I was singing all morning...

When I think of how He brought me through
And how, how the Lord changed my life
My soul, my soul is overwhelmed

I get joy, joy, joy
Unspeakable joy

I get joy, joy, joy
Unspeakable joy!!
