Barack is an Arabic name; the root word means blessed. (the Hebrew equivalent would be Baruch, which also means blessed.
Barak means lightning, Barack means blessed. Thus...they're not the same name.

That's the thing TRFrance. I wasn't trying to say his name was the same. I said that when I read about Barak in Hebrews it made me think of Barack Obama, so I decided to do a search on the name Barak in the Bible. I never said it was the same name as Barack. When someone asked me if that was the case, I answered with "apparently so", not yes. Nothing I have posted is inaccurate because I never said Barack was the same as Barak. Nice try though!
