I have been thinking about our service last night. Our assistant pastor taught bible study and for a young man he is wise beyond his years.
He was talking about how the only thing that God purchased was the church. He owns everything, has need of nothing, yet He purchased His church.
These scriptures came to mind.
Matthew 13 (KJV)
44Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
45Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
If our God loved us so much and desired to have us so much that he would PAY the ultimate price to have us, MAN how much LOVE is that??
We are so valuable to Him that He had to have us. He gave ALL He had for us. Have we been worth His purchase? Did He make an investment that was wise? Are we bringing Him a good return on his investment?
We should really feel blessed. We should really feel great. I mean look at us, the KING of Glory gave His all for us. If He did that He must have seen something in us that was valuable.
I was so humbled by the thought. Shouldn't I feel elated that God valued me so much? Yes I should, but still the thought that HE loved me that much. It is a humbling thought. Now since He gave His all for me the least I can do in return is make His investment worthwhile. He has not asked me to die for Him, not that He may never, but until He does I will do what He did ask of me, I will LIVE for Him and do my best to be like the moon. The moon reflects the sun to give us light in the evening. I want to be like the moon and reflect the SON in this dark hour we live in.
God Bless you all
