Re: The Little G's

Let me take this a step further.

I often teach on the subject of entanglements of/with the world. It is an important subject. We do need to be careful of our involvement in the things that around us. I pointed out this past Sunday that we are strangers on earth and if we don’t feel that we are strangers when in the company of the lost, then we need to review our relationship with God.

This is simple Christian teaching. That doesn’t mean we need to avoid all the places those outside the Family of Faith go, nor does it mean we should avoid all the things those outside the Family of Faith do. What it does mean is that we must first recognize who we are in Christ and let that govern our involvement.

Why is this so hard? What I find is that this kind of teaching is either ignored by the so-called saints, or it is abused and turned into a list of things we must collectively all adhere to. This is just as bad as NOT TEACHING ANYTHING! Why would I spend 5 minutes telling someone to avoid football games when that person has no inclination that would lead sporting events to become engrossing? It is nonsensical. What I must tech is the RULE. Take care of the things you spend your time on. Insure that your focus on the things of God is not diminished by your attachment to the things of this world.

When I teach the principle and leave the application in the hands of the Child of God, and leave the expectation that the child of God will follow the Spirit, then I have done the needful and the saint will grow in maturity. If all I do is give them a list of things to do and not do, then I insure the saint remains stuck and immature and incapable of hearing the voice of God and growing. Paul was very clear on the point. He detested the notion of saints remaining immature.
