That being said, it would also be bring a bad reputation to be well known as someone who constantly profits from preaching the sermons of others. So I feel an occasional preaching of another's sermon is probably acceptable, though I think it should never become a common practice.
You have summed it up well.

I think that if anyone accuses anyone of stealing sermons based off only a couple sermons they have heard is being foolish. Since JF was the one being accused, as brought up in this thread, then here is how I see it. If any person accuses JF of stealing sermons-again only using him since this thread states that he has been accused of stealing messages-they are probably basiing this on very little information. What I mean is that JF TV broadcast shows maybe 1 or 2 new messages a month or every other month. There is 52 Sunday's and Wednesdays in a year so showing 12 new sermons a year on TV is and seeing 1 or 2 that maybe similar to one someone else preached and using that as ammo for the 'He steals sermons' thing is a weak argument IMO. Also often times sermons that they show today may even be from last year. I have seen many sermons by TD Jakes, JF and other where they are talking about a current event that happened month and months ago, but yet it is seen as a new sermon by the intros that are shown before it.

I just think that it is a weak argument using a couple of handfuls of messages and seeing less than a handful of those that are similar to someone elses and use that as the ammo for the fight of 'he is a sermon stealer'.

Back to JF we go. Getting dizzy.

According to you, JT, it doesn't matter if JF did or not. So why the switch in position?

Which should be a regular practice? An exception rather than a rule?
I can see pros and cons for what you are saying and what I am saying.

I suppose what I am curious is of those that say they have majorly used another sermon and not cited it. They had the choice to cite it or to not cite it. What reasons do they have for not citing it other than I didn't think it was important (because that is not a reason, its an excuse). So what reasons can be given for choosing not to mention a sermon as someone elses?

It's not so much about how wronged the person is that's not being cited. It goes to how almost dishonest, lazy or unethical it is for the guy speaking. Humility always wins fans.
IF someone is caught up with their reputation then they are insecure IMO. I care what people think sorta but if someone don't like me then oh well their loss. If someone wants to judge someones elses character by 1 thing then oh well their loss.

Nice quote...love being misquoted! I was saying that I don't agree with you. You can produce whatever evidence that you are in the majority and that is cool but I am not going to join the majority for the hey of it. If I don't agree then I don't agree. I wouldn't expect you to jump to my side if I were in the majority.

I'm done.

Seriously, I've seen you interact on posts in this past and thought you had a little more to you that this. It's not even agreement that I'm talking about.

Look bro, I never dropped the JF thing. You brought him up as being the accused all I am doing is saying that there is nothing wrong, in my eyes with using someone elses sermon every now and again. If someone accuses JF or any other minister of stealing based on 2 sermons they have heard from a person and that is their leg that their arguement is standing on then that is a shaky leg, IMO.

I agree and we've asked this before on the thread.

"I don't think it's not important" doesn't really answer the question. Why is it not important? Why NOT cite? What are you afraid of?

Seriously?? First you defend JF's plagiarism. Then you defend JF that he DIDN'T plagiarize. Am I missing something here?

I think there needs to be a major balance between being concerned of what others think and not caring. As a Christian you must care somewhat about your reputation if only for how it expresses Christ but as a person you can't be a people pleaser
