In practice, churches generally are happy to allow couples to marry as often as wish, be they innocent, guilty or otherwise designated.

Seems the important thing is whether they are attending church and paying tithes... [sic]
I agree with you~!

If God does not forgive only "blasphemy", then how can we not forgive either the innocent or guilty party?

Except, that a continuing pattern needs to be dealt with and not supported. Much like a child's bad behaviour.

Then that's something you have to discuss - - he (or she) shouldn't expect you to put yourself in danger.

I believe that would be an excused reason and has nothing to do with the scripture.

Yes, like being sick. I agree.

I would forgive him, but I'd also most likely divorce him. Or at least separate. IF he continued on, unrepentant, in repeated adultery.

I agree with Renda, I think this was common sense marriage advice, not a commandment.

I agree and did do that.

I guess I'm very sure that I don't know what I would do in any given situation. LOL

I know what I would need to do!!!

I do remember, as I was married at 28 and a bit independent, how hard it was to try to want to make my marriage work. I remember kneeling by the bed, crying, holding his robe and saying, "Please God. Help me know how to love him. Help me to want to love him!!!"

I knew I had the responsibility to do my part as a Christian and a wife.

That would depend in large part whether "marriage" is viewed primarily as an event or an ongoing status.

Any past event can be forgiven no doubt.

But, if it's in the Bible, it's a commandment - don't you think?
