Sheesh. Nothing wins with you. You're making the point that dancing an entire worship service, running, jumping, etc are not that good for you. And actually, if they busted out a treadmill in the pew, it would be even better.

Calories aside, getting the blood flowing helps decrease stress. Surprise, surprise!

Cindy - haha. fasting is bad for your body too. Guess that's a Biblical contradiction. It defiles the body! lol
fasting, done correctly, can be benefical to the body.

I'm not talking about starvation but deprivation of things that are harmful to us is a good start to getting healthy.

Obesity in and of itself is not a sin. overindulgence to the point of damage to our bodies, soul, mind and spirit - not being good stewards of the bodies God has intrusted us with - not being good employees, saints, citizens, neighbors....all those things are sinful.

Obesity alone is not - there are other factors involved that cannot be singled out as overindulgence or gluttony.

The only straight answer to this question is NO - at face value, it's not a sin.

But unhealthy lifestyle choices, I personally feel are sinful - they go against everything a christian should be...

And I completely agree.

Praise Him,

TGIF!

Confess your faults one to another that ye may be healed.

Becoming co-dependent does lead to further failure in people but does not give us the excuse to avoid the practice of confession.

Common sense and wisdom will lead us to posotive results with those who need someone to confide in.

Anyone who's been married a long time, knows, without honesty and confession a marriage will lack trust, leading to dilluted communication and poor relationship.

If anyone knows this (about co-dependecy), pastors do. People can latch on and never let go. I've often told folks, "It's time for you to fly on your own." The people business is a tough one. It's never been easy, and never will be. The Cross is proof of that.

We cringe when people ask for our cloke, let alone our coat as well. We save some by pulling them out of the fire. Not all reach for my hand but I keep trying.

God Bless

I hope this isn't the feeling people are getting regarding this post. If I've given this impression to anyone, I stand corrected.

I've reviewed mine and others comments and do not see where anyone has drawn this conclusion.

Sister, you may want to re-think what you're trying imply here. I sense bitterness (anger) in your tone. If we can't dialog about possible failure in an area of our lives, the challenge to better ourselves is never considered.

If boldness is needed to prove the point, Proverbs does declare; If a man is given to appetite, he should put a knife to his throat. I am very cautious when using this verse, never the less, sometimes it is needed to convince folks who seem to be branded with unwillingness to humble debate. If you need shock value, this verse leaves little to imagine.

Helping people should be our goal in all that we do. I hope my strong words here don't leave you in further despair, but help you to see this is more than a Heaven or Hell issue. People are suffering and the Church is hindered by this unhealthy living. Children are growing up undisciplined, with health problems of the elderly, while only in thier teens. The media has been strait-forward, telling America, this is the #1 National Health Crisis of our day. The world even knows.

Dare we look the other way as the noose grows tighter.

Despite what people think, the Bible is a book of Health for body, mind and spirit.

I drove a school bus for 2 years with the Head Start program. I had 4 year old children who could barely climb the stairs of the bus because they were so overweight. These young children are heading for a horrible future if thier parents don't change thier ways. I've also seen this same problem in our churches.

With video games, TV, movies, autos, and all the other things that take away our active lifestyles, people are becoming lazy and eating more than they need to eat. This is hurting us. This is killing us. This is changing our quality of life. This is feeding the monster of stress that is strangling Christians, all because they don't open up the natural endorphines only released by exercise. Instead, they go to a doctor, get on anti-depressent medication, compounding the problem by vacating reality and becomming a drug addict.

It's costing us more money than we can count. In our city, we had to buy new ambulances with cranes to lift the patient and bigger beds because the old ones could not accomadate the "New American Size". People are having to buy 2 seats on an airplane. Pharmicutical companies are laughing thier way to the bank while we buy medications because of health problems caused by obesity. And health insurance?; the money here is insurmountable! A diabetic alone can cost millions in a lifetime; youthful diabetes is a side affect of obesity in children, causing them to become slaves to insulin shots for the rest of thier life.

May we become the Light of the World by an example of living life to its fullest. If we will rediscover good health and moderation, our quality of life will be revived, our prayer lines will shrink, and the lost will notice we enjoy this Planet the way God intended for us to enjoy it. Try climbing the mountain instead of driving; things look different up there when we breathe deeply and create blood flow to our muscles and to that wonderful organ called our, brain.

God Bless, NFS
