Re: Toys From Our Childhood

The only Barbie I ever got was from someone I never met.

I was a mischievous little brat (I know, hard for you to believe) and would make prank calls when my mom wasn't home and the babysitter was busy.

I called this lady once and she didn't respond in the usual way (cussing, yelling, and anything else that I liked making people do). She just talked to me and wanted to get to know me.

I suspect she was a little old black woman. I remember her phone number to this day. She talked to my parents a couple times when they found out about my new friend (I don't remember if they ever knew why I knew her), and I spoke to her often for about 5 years.

She didn't want to meet me, nor would give out any other info than her first name (Zinta) and the street she lived on, but one year, she asked for my address and I gave it to her. I was about 12 then, and she sent me a Barbie.

I don't know what ever happened to that doll, but it was one of the best presents I ever got.

Oh, and because of her kindness, I never made prank calls to anyone else again!

I remember the bride dolls. They wore a beautiful wedding gown.

Re: Toys From Our Childhood

The biggest Christmas I had was the year I got the stove, sink, and refrigerator set. Made of metal. So, yes, it rusted within weeks.

How ironic: to have those things so early in life and here I am an adult...and rarely use any appliance. HA!
