I think this forum is somewhat calmer than NFCF. It seemed on NFCF that some of the people were argumentative most of the time. That got really old. I hope this forum never heads in that direction. I come here for fun and fellowship.

Most of all I am so glad to see there is no preacher bashing allowed here!!!! Maybe we will maintain the peace??? I was very doubtful at first that this would work I was afraid it would end up being a exact replica of before but I am so happy to see it is not...
peace in a forum makes it feel alot more like home, doesn't it?

imo, I think that AFF will be improved in this "no preacher bashing" area....

I think that really interesting conversations can, and at times should be passionate. It is very evident that we don't always agree. The important thing to remember is that there IS a line we should never cross.

That line is crossed when we profane God's holy things. These could be His Word, His ministers, or His people. Some things should not be touched.

I feel it is absolutely fine to bash ideas and even some man-made doctrines. But it is never okay to slander the things of God. Looking back, there are some discussions I regret being involved in. Not necessarily because I did anything wrong, but because there was no real value in the discussion. (Philippians 4:8)

Problems arise when some of us do not know the difference or believe man made doctrines ARE the "things of God"

key concept: attacking the idea/principle, but not the person....

NFCF debates often led to personal attacks; thats where it was bad....

not necessarily.... the problems arose when people stopping attacking the idea/concept and started attacking the "opposing" person(s)

But for many of us, what some consider just "man made " doctrines or rules, they are the things of God...so there will be endless debate on that....! So people do become passionate about those things....it will always be...
