My familiy's home is in Panama City, FL. That area is a relatively inexpensive place to go to but still get to enjoy world-class beaches. You just have to know which weeks to go during the year and even the summer. It can mean the difference between paying $300 for a beachside room and $60 for the same room.

The picture of me on the beach is at Seaside - - about 45 minutes from Panama City and not as crowded - - I LOVE - simply LOVE the water and beach there!

That whole region has some unbelievable coastline, and it is very easy to find secluded stretches of pristine beach with noone within miles. I really took all of that for granted when I lived in the area. After moving to Houston, I went to Galveston with some friends and could not believe how dirty the water was. I could not believe people were actually going to be getting in that.

It does - - I can sit and total zone out completely for hours looking at that water!

No, I didn't take that pic, but it is pretty representative of what hundreds of miles of beach looks like along that panhandle. That region has made a real effort to change its "redneck Riviera" image and is becoming a reasonable vacation destination....Maybe I should work for the Chamber of Commerce.
