Re: Does no one accept responsibility any more?
And another thing:
While we're on socialism -- I can't STAND corporate socialism. That printing of several million dollars to help JPMorgan bail-out BearStearns is just sickening. Our dollar was hit hard because of this stupidity. If a corporation does stupid stuff that causes itself problems -- it should be afraid. Otherwise, these corporations won't be afraid to make off with my hard earned money that I don't agree to let them have. Thievery I tell you, thievery!

I could see a doctor in the clinic, ER, or my GP, all on the same day if need be.
Now seeing a Specialist is a little more difficult, but not because of what you might think.
Worldwide there is a shortage of GP's Nurses & medical personal.
There is just to much demand for them.
The competition isn't just from the States, but the Middle East has a lot of cash
to entice people.
As for treatment, I know we have one of the top Cancer research and treatment centres in North America.

weeellllllll......
in that event, the bottom line is, the officers and investors of Bear Sterns took a bath. they lost billions of dollars over one weekend.
the only thing that got saved were the people whos money was in that bank.
Bear Sterns was NOT saved. it disappeared in the twinkling of an eye.
it did prevent a major "Poofining" of billions of dollars in that bank....
but I feel ya....

If more conscientious people would go into the business I'm sure we'd all benefit. It would create more competition. It's like politics. Only the snake-oil salesmen run for office (or a majority of them are) and the only way to change that is for us normal folk to run for office -- and I don't have the wherewithal to deal with all the junk that I would have to deal with in order to make a difference.

speaking of corporate socialism.
I dont like the fact that when I go buy stuff, a good chunk of the money stuff costs me is actually another taxation.
the government taxes businesses a corporate income tax rate, which they pass along to the consumer. hidden taxes. bad for me.
businesses should not be taxed and should not expect anything from the government in the form of welfare either.

Re: Does no one accept responsibility any more?
Our Founding Fathers didn't use income taxes to fund the government. They used tariffs in addition to excise taxes on trade and business.

Hamilton would have challenged you to a duel and shot your noggin off.
George Washington would have taken off his specticles and given a stirring speach on why you were wrong.
Thomas Jefferson would have written a scathing letter about how you were perverting all they sacrificed for
Madison would have written fifteen more letters on federalism to make sure your view never got off the ground and
John Quincy Adams would have had you tossed in Jail!
IM WITH JQA!

OK wise guy....how did they fund the government? They didn't have the income tax back then.
For the record...the founders were against taxation without representation...not all taxation or tarriffs.

Even the honest politicians (if you can find one) eventually find it very difficult to resist the temptation to become corrupt. I was friends with the sheriff of this county I used to live in. He ended up getting elected as a state senator. I asked him what it was like and he told me he could not believe how easy it would be to get anything he wanted. New cars, money, special priveleges, anything: just to get him to vote a certain way.
