I watched a documentary last night and saw a cemetery for babies in Colorado City. The babies were buried separately from the adults and hidden behind fences. They do have markers but the ladies that were taping this said they had been there a month before and there were 200 new graves since then for babies.
Family members that live outside the compounds are allowed to come to funerals of adults.
There is a lot of half brothers and sisters and cousins etc. So a lot of them have the same last name. One dad, up to as many as 5 or 6 moms. And the first wives are said to control the younger wives by being abusive to their children. Affection is not encouraged at all and some say they even try to keep baby's from crying. They are taught to be emotionless.
And Warren Jeffs stated in an interview from prison that he is not a prophet of God and he is sorry that he sinned and asked forgiveness.

Question, is Polygamy protected under the terms of the US Constitution?
If so, this shouldn't be a problem, if it is, how can they sort this mess out?
I really think it is protected by the constitution.
But abuse of children is not.
The removal of some of the children might be a big problem for the state.
I just don't know if the state had any other way to know if there was real abuse without removing most of them.

Then by that reckoning, the practice of Polygamy promotes abuse according to your quote.

Under Texas law, children under the age of 17 generally cannot consent to sex with an adult. A girl can get married with parental permission at 16, but none of the sect's girls is believed to have had a legal marriage under state law.
Just heard on news here that now they have found proof of abuse (broken bones and recently broken yet healed bones in very young children) this is sad!

No Ron, this is just in this paticular group. Other polygamists may not be the same.

I think there are so many kids that don't have a clue who their moms are, but they know who their dad is. I think also that there are 13-14 year old girls that may become pregnant in Texas by boys of their own age or a little older but not with men in their 50's and 60's
They are allowed to discuss with their parents if they want to get married but all are taught it is their duty to God to marry and have children so they can get to the highest part of heaven.

I read this report but don't see where there is evidence of abuse. The numbers of children with a history of broken bones given are less than 10% of the total number of children taken. I think you could find the same percentage in any elementary school!
So, what does this mean? They indicate that the children were treated by doctors, but none of them reported suspected abuse. I find that hard to believe if they were truly being abused.
