My very Pentecostal daughter on her 20th birthday. Look middle aged to you?

Re: Whoa! Polygamist solution is frightening...

I know of Apostolic churches where the women look old school Methodist and even wear the head covering.

Apostolic ladies....unless you're pretty modern and attend a more contemporary church, most in the world are going to look at you and instantly think of this group and assume you too are part of a cult. It's just human nature. My wife, Tara, has already had a discussion with work friends and clarified that our family's faith is in no way related to the FLDS.

She looks like a Latina.

I don't. I have been around some pretty strict churches, haven't seen anything to equal those women.

Those women look Amish to me. It's plain to see those dresses are all the same style and home made. Apostolic folks don't go that route.

No, but her great-grandmother on her dads side was full blooded Native American.

I've seen churches where the hair was very similar as was the sleeve and dress length standard. However, I've only seen a few individuals with home made dresses that remind me of this, though the Apostolic women wore clothing very close but more colors praise God. lol

Where you from dizzyde, I'm in Ohio.

We see the differences. But most people in the world will think Amish, Weslyans, Mennonite, and German Baptists are the same because of the head coverings. These women weren't wearing head coverings...most will associate them with Pentecostal and Apostolic women. Like I said, my wife already had to clear up that our religion isn't associated with the FLDS. She has a weekly study with a Catholic girl and a Jehovah's Witness girl. They're all pretty frank. They wanted to know if we were associated.

According to earlier reports they have found and talked to the underage girl who placed the call.
Why not only take those individuals and children involved in the confirmed abuse cases and leave those children and parents where no abuse is present alone?
There are too many cases where the CPS doesn't act quickly enough and everyone critcizes them. Here they felt for the safety of the children they needed to remove them all to get the facts/truth. Again they are critcized. Regardless of what CPS does it is never going to please everyone.

I have mixed feelings on this - Ideally I would like to see the children who haven't been abused or whose parents don't intend marrying them off before they are of age returned home but when they reach that "magic age" what kind of life is this for them? No true love, no having that one special person just for yourself, no soul mate. It's no better than being a wife with a husband who cheats right in front of you. How many of you (women) would be happy with that kind of life?

Today when the 3 women were asked (women twice, attorney once) how old the girls were when they were allowed to marry they stumbled around with their answer and never did answer. If the girls are not minors then why was it so hard to answer the question?

Someone posted earlier something about...next UPC....I have never heard anyone from CPS say that they raided the compounded because of the women's dress. (And last I heard the UPC church was not encouraging underage marriage.) CPS raided the compound because of a phone call alleging abuse. (And UPC has had their fair share of these same calls, one in my area just few months ago) The media is the one making the big deal about their looks, demeanor and dress not the CPS.

A news report this morning stated that 7 (I think this is the correct number) women did not want to return to the compound. I am sure CPS is getting plenty of information from them to build their case.

How many men would be happy if their teenager daughter met one of these older men and decided to go into this lifestyle. Would you think that CPS overstepped their boundaries then?
