Honestly, I would not want my daughter to wear the formal attire that Miss Kathleen was wearing. I know boys, I'm one of them and I'm friends with lots of them. I wouldn't want my daughter to be ogled by some flesh pot. She's beautiful enough as it is, she doesn't need the extra attention---trying to keep her unmarried until 30---However, we know nothing about this girl. Were the photos taken recently? Were the photos taken before a serious commitment to the Lord in the past year? Are her parents committed to church?
I had someone tell me they overheard a conversation of people from another UPC church criticizing a lady from our church who is the SS director about what she had on in a public setting. I will address the issue, but I thought to myself, "these people don't have a clue." First she is one of the finest Christians in our church. Second she loves Sunday School b/c thats how she got into church. Someone picked her up every Sunday. Nobody in her family is saved except her daughter. Third she lives in almost a daily hell at home with an unsaved husband.
Do those people have a clue of what kind of Christian/perspon she is? NO. They simply want to cast stones at her for what the deemas inappropriate attire. When I address it, I will bet my life there was nothing immodest or inapproriate about her attire, it just probably went against someone's traditional ways of drawing lines. She is a Christian in every sense of the word, a lady, humble and God-fearing. I love her and think the world of her. If someone is going to judge her by a moment of time they observed---they are barking up the wrong tree. She may very well stand in judgment of these same people on that day.
My point is, lets be very careful we don't make broad assumptions based on a few pictures, hearsay and ideas we have about people in the arts and entertainment industry.
If she were not a godly example, I am sure Bro Davis would have opposed her being on the platform at NAYC. He's a good man with a long and proven reputation. Lets just trust her pastor on this one folks!

How would you feel if there were scads of your so-called brethren all over the country slicing and dicing your daughter or yourself based on a few photos and lots of broad asumptions not knowing her story, her history, or her at all?
I hope she, her parents, her friends, her church, her pastor, or anybody associated with her finds any of the stuf being said about her here or elsewhere.
It would be better for you to have a millstone tied about your neck and cast into the sea than to harm one of His little ones.................................................. ....(gulp)

I don't think she should have been on display perhaps at this event because it does seem like a slight contradiction in view of what the UPC stands for in regard to holiness, etc.
I think the fact that Oneness Pentecostals viewed themselves as being "on the other side of the tracks" for so long makes them a little starry eyed when important people (however you define that) come around.

How far fetched is it to think that TG wanted to make a political statement about how he envisions the future of the fellowship at this ... his last Youth Congress?Let's recap just some of the controversy:
1. An Apostolic TV star is showcased as a role model for other young people.
2. Choreographed Step Dancing debuts at an endorsed event.
3. Gaddy pleads to his listeners in his last message that they too "step out of the box".
Everyone's minds are made up on the TV resolution ... as is Gaddy's ... who is stepping away ...
I don't doubt his passion is youth or that he sought to inspire and impact their lives in a memorable way when he made the executive decisions in organizing this event.
Yet, anyone can tell you ... including as Sherri stated above. This is not your Mama's UPCI. There are some mixed messages that are new to some in the fellowship. We would be remissed to think that TG did not know that controversy would rear its head after this YC.
He has played a role in organizing these events before... Dozens of ideas are tossed about in brainstorming sessions ... but often are decided against due to perceived notions of impropriety or fear of political fallout.
Gaddy has an agenda here. It's clear. As part of his legacy he has set precedent in the policy decision making process of at least the department he is involved in ... His vision for the future of the fellowship does not match those who will be voting no in September. This was Gaddy's exclamation point.
Lets say the answer is, Yes, this was TG intent... do you have a problem with that? Is it a bad thing or a good thing from your point of view?
