Re: We're Not Putting X-Mas Trees Up!
well for arguments sake...show me chapter and verse where its wrong to kneel down before an adorned tree and give it gifts and receive gifts from it. chapter and verse where silver and gold can not be given to a tree inside your house. Chapter and verse where we can not sing hymns and songs to it such as ...oh Christmas tree oh Christmas tree. Chapter and verse where its not ok once a year to get jealous that someone received a better gift than you did or because you did not receive a gift.
for the chapter and verse people

Honestly....sometimes its good for me to have that physical reminder of that commitment. Im not bulletproof and temptation comes on the regular lol. Lot easier to cheat without a ring than with it.

Why not just dye a red dot on your forehead?

Because red was a color used by harlots in Biblical times of course. :-D
Or so some other church I used to go to waaaaaay back in the day believed....same people didn't wear watches cause it was jewlery but they certainly didnt have a problem with pocket watches....odd.
Anywho in serious answer to your question. Indont wear a dot on my forehead because in American culture it is not commonly recognized as a unspoken sign of marital commitment....which is why I wear a ring...cause a ring is and that accomplishes my purposes quite well.

Its funny....we will ban practices and traditions started by other denominations and religions but we have no problem using technology and things invented, improved on and sold by non christians. How many of you research patents and who invented the things you are buying in stores before you buy them?
If wearing a ring is wrong because it was "started" by Catholics, if we use tech and products invented by ungodly people? are we in sin over that as well? Do we have to be experts in the origin of each and every thing we come in contact with so that we dont get attacked by some "evil" attatched?

The issue is not and never was whether it is lawful to use something, ANYTHING, invented by a heathen or heretic. The issue is and has always been whether it is lawful for Christians to practice, perpetuate, preserve, repurpose, or peddle pagan religious practices in the guise of being "Christian". In other words, can a heathen idol be repurposed for the worship of Jehovah?

Rings do not prevent affairs or temptations. Furthermore, you’re cheating on God with Egypt by wearing one. Aside from the religious significance of a wedding ring (pagan religion), the scriptural forbiddance of jewelry should be enough of a reason not to wear one.

Re: We're Not Putting X-Mas Trees Up!
In Judaism, the wedding ring plays a major role in the Jewish wedding ceremony, but after the wedding is over, many men don't wear a wedding ring and for some Jewish women, the ring ends up on the right hand.
