Some countries have gained independence without having a war.
War is not always needed to gain independence.

it could as easily be termed a rebellion, and I'm sure the religious right of the day was scrambling for some justifications as well.

1) so that justifies the genocide, i guess.
2) Personally, i find your current independence to be a vapor; and yet i acknowledge that wheat come up with tares, and all work for good in the end, so please don't take me too seriously there. I mostly desire to lob grenades at the complacent, and complicit.
3) Again, your civilization has become a pox--as all do, satan being in charge and all--and whether it started as evil or not depends simply on ones pov. Manifest Destiny is a poor mandate, i think. Personally, i believe we were meant to manifest the lesson of 1Sam8. I will note that--as we are now firmly in the Decadence stage of a society--Countries come and go, but the nation remains, historically speaking. America also did great things, no doubt.

interesting, ty. Strikes me as a doctrinal argument, wadr, as when i am among Muslims, who know me to be a Christian, this never comes up in our discussions. The term "Mahdi" to these people is equivalent to...well, can't think of a good one, but let's say 'a fictional character.' None of them are taking it seriously? I'd equate it to how most Jews take a Kabbala tale, something like that--which does not mean that there aren't other Muslims who feel differently...

The amount of Muslims you personally know, and especially Rabbinical Jews, cannot be the measurement of which you determine the belief of either group.
That would be like someone knowing you and making a judgement on the whole of Christianity. It doesn't work.

My point is that the war of independence might have not needed to happened, if some cooler heads had prevailed.

Really? Have you read the Declaration of Independence?
When peaceful means are exhausted... etc etc.

Many Muslims are ignorant of what their own religion teaches. Just like many Christians are ignorant about what Christianity teaches. These radicals believe in the literal teaches in the Quran and the Hadiths about the Mahdi. Remember, the Quran and the Hadiths imply that the Mahdi will go to war against and defeat false Muslims who do not believe in the Mahdi or the Last Day.
Also, I'm sure that some Muslims play dumb about it too. They don't' want to appear to believe in it or know much about it because they don't want to offend a friend or neighbor.
