Just as a point of reference, I have seen scholarly work that suggests kids who come from disparate genetic backgrounds tend to benefit from the expanded gene pool.

In regards to Affirmative Action? In Grutter v. Bollinger, the Supreme Court held that enhancing diversity is a constitutional justification for an affirmative action program.

I once lived in an area with a large Indian population. As a 'white girl', I saw a lot of racial prejudice but more so at those who were only part Indian. I once worked with a girl who had a white father but Indian mother. She was attempting to speak to a customer who kept ignoring her to speak to me. It wasn't my department and she kept telling him she could help him. He finally looked at her and said, "I'm not talking to you, half-breed, I'm talking to her".
I was stunned, but later, she was laughing. She said it didn't bother her because that was common in that area. What was especially funny is that he once had a white wife....and she had 6 of his children.

At 11 my son scored 129 on his IQ. He was enrolled at Laurel Springs Private Academy for the Gifted , attended 6-12 graduated with honors and had won scholarships to 3 major Universities. He later tested at 135 during his 11th grade year. Stayed on the Honor roll for the whole 7 years he attended. He is working on his Masters in Engineering and Computer Science........but some said he would not amount to nothing bc of "what KIND of home he came from".....

My daughter also scored 129 when she was 11 (sixth grade). The school she attended had thought of advancing her a grade, but said she would suffer from not having certain skills and experiences, especially in science. So she didn't advance. She then complained of, for the third time, having to dissect a worm. LOL!
We have always lived in a small area where resources weren't available to gifted children. She is going to start her second year but will be attending a community college this year because we cannot afford to send her to the private college she attended last year. Paying 10K about killed us. She got some private scholarships but nothing major even though she applied to several dozen. One scholarship will be given to her for four years and it's enough to pay for one year at the community college. She hopes to have a good job next year so she can help pay for her tuition in the coming years.
I should also add that she has always been on the high honor roll, was in advanced classes in high school, and graduated 6th out of 170 kids.
