I have to respectfully disagree. I'm talking about secular women. In general, I want my daughters to model themselves after godly women, but picking from the secular pool for the sake of this discussion, it isn't the hair that would make me say one person or another is a good or bad role model. Usually if I point out a good quality in a secular woman, it is pointing out work in the community or for a charity. I remember when I was a girl, my mother bought me magazines and books with pictures of Princess Diana, and told me that she was a classy dresser, and used her photos to teach me about matching outfits, etc.

Now, if we were talking about other Apostolic women, I would certainly point my girls in the direction of those women who are moderate with the use of makeup and jewelry, who wear modest clothing, who don't cut their hair, along with a myriad of other qualities. Those are the things that reflect our beliefs, and of course I want to guide them in that direction.

There are plenty of women who wear no makeup, have long hair, wear no jewelry, and wear modest clothing, that I would never want my daughters to emulate. They are disrespectful and disobedient to their husbands, they cause trouble in churches, they aren't committed to the church, they don't pray or fast or witness, they're critical and sour and unpleasant, and regardless of their outward appearance, I don't want our girls to have anything to do with them. They are poor examples.

That's why I said that the hair really doesn't have a lot to do with it. It does to a point. But not really. At least, it isn't a sound indicator of godliness or a lack thereof. And of course I don't expect women without knowledge of the scriptures in question to see the need to keep their hair long or uncut.

I agree with you Thad. Have you ever seen what happens to a black woman's hair when she doesn't get it cut and it keeps growing and growing? Eventually the weight of the hair causes the curl to fall down quite a bit. It doesn't just keep growing into a larger and larger ball shaped afro looking thing. Wanna know how I know? I am married to a black woman that has gone for years before without cutting her hair. Some people need to stop thinking they can speak for people of other races and what they think.

There was nothing degrading in any way, nor racist in any way in my post. For most black women, I spoke the absolute facts.

I'm a white man that's right but I've been around blacks all my life (& i don't mean just a token black friend either)I certainly could get their opinoin. you are right, they do have a different view on hair, they have different texture of hair and for Blacks, their entire world view is different then whites. however, the way you worded some of what you said sounded racist and No, i don't think you meant it like that but I am certain they would view a few things you said otherwise.
