I used to walk down that road a LOT. It was beautiful - especially in the winter after a fresh snowfall. I used to walk it occasionally at night with only moon and stars lighting the way. I loved the quietness, hearing the crunch of snow under my boots and the air so crisp and clean. And in the winter you didn't have to worry much about meeting anything remotely dangerous.

I certainly wouldn't do that here I can tell you. It wouldn't be animals I'd be worried about either -- but people!
You had street lights? I lived with my great uncle and his wife when I was 14 and they lived way out in the woods. I loved those piney woods where the pine needles blanketed the ground so there was no underbrush and your vision was clear.

I had kinfolk that didn't have running water or electricity and you felt like you stepped back in time when you went to visit them. It was certainly such a different life and I would imagine that kids nowadays wouldn't know what to do without the luxuries we have today.

We would spend hours just running around and playing. We never needed video games or any store bought toys to have fun.

It was halarious!!!! I was so mad at John for getting us "lost" and then we see that stupid dog sitting behind the wheel in Donnies truck.

Needless to say, I rode home in the back of the pickup. The dog got left so the smell could wear off for a while.
Good thing that the dog didn't have the keys. Y'all might have gotten left behind.

I was going to say something similar. But didn't think anyone else caught it.

I saw a flying horse. I really did. It had wings and was way up in the air. Not a vision. I really saw it.

In fact, it was over the tallest building in downtown Dallas for many years, over the Conoco/Phillips building. For many years, it was the tallest building West of the Mississippi. There it was...a flying horse with wings...right there on top of the building.

No redneck would ever be able to figger out the deely bob to get the time and date stamp correct on their digital camera...

Rednecks can be pretty progressive nowadays.

A friend of mine, who is a city boy, told me that he believes an educated Redneck is the most dangerous creature on the planet.

Give them a gun, but keep them books away from Rednecks.

This has to be the Lord, I came to work this morning and there is a hen about 15 yards in a hay field making a nest. I will try and get a picture with my camera phone, but the quality is often poor.

Great Picture, CS! Wish I could have been there.

My FIL and I were cutting up dead falls out in the woods and he spelled me on the chainsaw. I cut it off to refuel for him and I heard a chirping sound that was close. I stood there looking up into the surrounding trees and could not get a glimpse of what it was. As my gaze fell back to the work at hand I caught a movement on the ground about 15 yards from where I was standing. It was a new born fawn, white spotted and wobbly, wanting it's mom. It stumbled around a bit then laid back down. We went on about our business and I never saw it again. But that was a pretty sight. Wish I'd have had the camera.
