Re: We're Not Putting X-Mas Trees Up!
All of this is just another example of an attempt to erase our European cultural identity. Accept this time it's not the liberals, it's the ultra cons beating the drum. As an American who values his European heritage and traditions, I'm appalled.

You have a Semitic Middle Eastern culture and tradition in the Bible. However, unless you're a Jew or Israelite you don't have a heritage in the Bible.
And no, it's not a conspiracy. It's pretty obvious that society is becoming very open to Islamic, Hispanic, African, Middle Eastern, and Eastern cultures while becoming increasingly hostile to European culture. I have to deal with HRC every day where I work...and it sickens me how the chips are stacked against your average American of European decent. It's not a conspiracy, it's just the way things are. It was summed up by an attorney friend of mine. When I asked her why it seemed they didn't care what I had to say, she answered, "Well, you're white male. You're to blame for everything." While I see the value in many affirmative action initiatives, and I support them...it can be very frustrating to see your culture and heritage under attack by both liberals and super-spiritual ultra-cons.
I'm of European decent and I'm proud of it. I cherish my Irish and English ancestry. I praise the Lord with an English song and an Irish dance, because He's worthy of all praise from all nations, kindreds, peoples, and tongues.
In my opinion, to see a Gentile or person of European decent trying to adopt the Middle Eastern Semitic cultural heritage is like seeing a second wife trying to dress, look, act, and talk like the first wife. Also, having married into a family where half the family is Jewish I've gained additional insight that has made me a bit sensitive to the Judaizing among my fellow Christian brothers and sisters.

Okay...
So you are talking about adopting the jewish holidays.
Yeah... not a big fan either.
That is why I was asking questions. I believe that the NT salvation has fulfilled many of the OT feasts & festivals. They foreshadowed what was to come.
A friend of mine preached a great sermon one time talking about the day of pentecost... His title was... When The Day Of Pentecost Was Fully Come.
He talked about how that day had been observed for so many years but THAT DAY... the day of Pentecost had fully come.

A conspiracy?
I feel the same way. I have culture, heritage, and tradition that I love, and I also find that in the Word of God.

Re: We're Not Putting X-Mas Trees Up!
Maybe just maybe there are some Jews who are Apostolic?????
My husband was told by someone in ministry that he needed to be less Jewish and more Apostolic. That to me is a sad and ignorant statement since Judaism is a religon and being an Isrealite is by birth. Anyone ever wonder why Jesus still went to the temple?
Or why Peter and John were coming through the gate beautiful when the beggar was healed?
I don't like the quasi mockery of those who act like want to be Judaizers either but don't knock those who were born Jewish and come to the knowledge of what we have. Jesus was a Jew and it was commanded that if they could not eat the whole lamb at Passover to have others help them eat it. I don't have a problem not being Jewish among the Jews though my mothers family heritage are all Jewish names. My father was French and they have some attitudes also about those who aren't French which would never be said in mixed company. I cannot make my self any less what I am. I am so glad that Jesus does not make a difference.

Mark, Paul was speaking of Jewish holy days not Paganism. The Jews had to continue in their law keeping until the removal of the temple (every jot and tittle of the law). The Gentiles were to abstain from their pagan practices.
You have no scripture where anyone was to create new forms to celebrate within the Christ faith. If your Pentecostal congregation picked up prayer beads (rosary) and started to use them, you would have no argument against that practice. Since you claim Roman 4 advocates the use of Pagan trappings as temple fornication, pagan meat and drink offerings (drink offering of blood), strangling their live sacrifices, and ceremonial jewelry, idols, days commemorating the dead, and ancestors, days dedicated to and their house spirits. Romans chapter four doesn't give license to transform Pagan practices into worship of Jesus Christ, or freedom to create your own religion and stamp the name of Christ on it.

Mark, John Calvin, Martin Luther, also fought against Catholicism, yet they kept infant baptism, the trinity and its titles baptism, and the xmas complete with yule log and green jewelry hanger pine tree.

Mark, you can serve people chicken soup and hot dogs to people and call it gumbo and boudin. No matter how much you may want to think that the hot dog and chiken soup is Cajun cooking, to the rest of the free thinking world you are serving Chef Boyardee, and not Tony Chachere.
Every year around this time the Protestants and all other Christian movements all gather together to celebrate a holiday that was instituted to draw everyone back to their Mother church.
