OLDTOWN -- An 18-year-old Hayden teen was killed Tuesday evening when his S.U.V. crashed with a log truck.

The accident happened on Highway 41 about three miles outside of Oldtown.

Idaho State Police said Shane T. Scott, 18, was killed when his vehicle crossed the center line, striking an unloaded log truck. Both vehicles overturned.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The highway was closed in both directions Tuesday night while investigators cleared the scene.

Comments by friends and family

Shane Scott was killed the other night in a car vs. log truck accident. He never made it home.
He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend.

He leaves behind his wife (Josie) and a 14 month old daughter. There is no insurance, and as start up couple, they live from paycheck to paycheck. Josie is responsible for all the funeral costs. There is a trust fund set up at US Bank named "Donation Benefit Account for Shane Taylor Scott" if anyone wants to make donations to help with funeral costs. You can make a donation at any US Bank. Please share this information with anyone that might be interested.

We thank you ... And thank you for your prayers and kind words. He was a great kid. We are going to miss him so much.

Shane was a great kid. He was working 2 jobs to support his wife and 1 year old child and, at the same time, helping his dad remodel his house in Oldtown so he, his wife and baby could move back to the area. This is a huge loss.

I have heard that when your child is born, you begin your life of imaginary terror that you hope and pray never becomes reality.

God protect our children and give grace to those who have lost...

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

When his truck finally stopped...it was upside down and he climbed out of that truck with minor injuries. God is faithful to watch over our children and protect them. Will keep you and your son in our prayers.
He called this afternoon and has decided to go ahead and go to the hospital to get checked out. He is in a lot of pain with the giant hole he bit in his tongue and just needs to get everything checked.

That is good that he is doing that. The sooner they know what needs taken care of the better.

Hope he gets a good report.

I'm glad to hear he is getting checked out. My Mom was in a bad accident and bit her tongue also and they actually put stitches in it..... so I was praying and worrying that he had not had it looked at.
