Your Employer

I know in a forum this size that there has got to be people who are either employed by their church, employed by their organization I was just wondering if your employers know you are on here and what they would think or do if you was to disagree with their stance on issues. Do you think you would get fired, told not to come back on here, how would you handle the situation? Do you think your employer has the right to question what you do on your own time?

My wife is employed by our church and i do think they have a right to question what she does on her own time because she is a reflection of the church.

Re: Your Employer

We all have different names that is true, but for some it still has not worked. People find out who people are and it has had to happen people get called in or fired.

Re: Your Employer

I go by my real name. My husband is the Senior Pastor and I'm the church Administrator. No one really cares that I'm on here, except my husband makes fun of it from time to time. LOL!

If you are posting while at work, your employer has the right to question what you are doing.

If you are posting in a manner, or using the internet in a manner that contradicts a position of leadership you hold, then your employer has the right to question it.

Church example: Youth leader posting his views approving sex before marriage. Probably will concern the pastor.

Non-church example: Judge posting racial slurs on a blog. Probably will concern the public, especially in regard to his ability to make fair decisions.

So, in general, what you do in private, while your business, may still concern others.

However: forums generally allow for anonymity, so unless someone slanders another person, then I think what you post under an anonymous username should be categorized right under good ol' Freedom of Speech.

To be specific...if you created an anonymous username, then informed your pastor of that username, and provided him with the address of the forum where you post, you cannot complain when he reads your "anonymous" posts, and questions you when you disagree. Look in the mirror, call yourself an idiot, and create a new SECRET username.
